In 1991 Michael M. Drum founded Drum Associates. He recognized a market for engineering services tailored to clients requiring a more personalized service for their projects. With just a few staff and much determination, the company quickly established for itself a reputation for providing quality service at reasonable rates in both Anne Arundel County and the City of Annapolis.

In 1994, Adam Snell joined the company, helping to run the firm, supervising the technical staff and overseeing the engineering design of various projects. Referrals and repeat business from satisfied customers continued to increase, and by 2002, Drum, Snell & Associates employed a staff of almost twenty full- and part-time employees.

In 2002, Peter E. Loyka joined the firm, providing twenty-five years of expertise in the areas of project management, hydrology and hydraulics, storm water management, and highway, utility & sediment control design. A year later Adam Snell left the company to pursue other interests, and the firm became Drum, Loyka & Associates.

Currently, Drum, Loyka & Associates employs over twenty full-time staff, with clients including developers, architects, public sector agencies, corporations, individual property owners and other design professionals.
